Bulk Cement Terminal Loading and Unloading Process and Silo Selection

Bulk Cement Unloading Process:

Bulk-Cement-Terminal-Loading-and-Unloading

The bulk cement unloading process mainly includes two parts: unloading the cement from the ship into steel silos and then discharging from the steel silos to cement trucks.

After the bulk cement ship docks at the terminal, the cement is unloaded using a ship unloader. The cement passes through air slides, elevators, and chain conveyors before finally falling into the steel silos. From the outlets at the bottom of the steel silos, the cement enters air slides, and through a series of operations involving chain conveyors and elevators, it is finally loaded into bulk cement trucks. The dedicated cement unloading terminal mainly consists of four parts: the ship unloading operation area, the transfer tower, the silos, and the loading and dispatch area. Special cement unloading machinery is installed on the terminal surface to form the ship unloading operation area. In the rear land area, the transfer tower, cement storage tanks, and truck dispatch system are arranged. Connecting the front and rear areas is the air conveyor chute system, forming a complete, efficient, and energy-saving bulk cement transshipment process. Each berth is equipped with one continuous ship unloader, with an unloading efficiency of 500 tons per hour. The ship unloader is fixed.

The overall unloading process is as follows:

Ship → Screw Ship Unloader → Air Slide → Screw Elevator → Large Steel Plate Warehouse → Air Slide → Chain Conveyor → Air Slide → Screw Elevator → Air Slide → Small Steel Plate Warehouse → Bulk Cement Truck → Destination.

Silo Selection:

According to the manufacturing method, steel silos can be divided into three types: directly welded steel silos, bolted galvanized steel silos, and spiral welded steel silos. Over the past 10 years, bolted galvanized steel silos (assembled silos) have been frequently used in coastal ports in China. In terms of construction costs, reinforced concrete silos are about 25%-35% more expensive than steel silos.
